An initial visit is undertaken free of charge and a competitive quotation will be given for the type of valuation requested. If we are eventually instructed to dispose of the estate by auction we would usually waive the fees for the valuation. At one time it was the norm to use the insured value or an estimate by a family member when submitting figures to HMRC. When the estate is likely to be above the IHT threshold greater care now needs to be taken and a realistic open market value must be used.
